How Rewarding!

Although I don't always love to clean, I have to say that I love the rewarding feeling that comes with a freshly vacuumed house, or a newly shined bathroom sink. Being able to sit and relax in a clean home is totally worth the time and effort that goes in to getting it that way.

But what about those household tasks that really don't provide the same type of reward? You know, that nice neat stack of papers over on the corner of your desk that aren't really bothering anyone...but the items in the pile are sort of eating away at the back of your brain?

Taking the time to sit down and make the phone calls, file the papers, and figure out how to deal with the things in your "to be attended to" file isn't very fun. And in the end there is no shiny sink or perfect floor rewarding you for all of the time that you spent.

These are the things that stay on the bottom of my to do list for weeks and weeks and weeks until I finally feel guilty enough to attend to them, but then I get annoyed that I had to waste an entire morning and didn't even get the dishes done.

So, my idea is to reward myself for the non-rewarding. I need to file my local taxes, deal with some health insurance related business, file a mountain of paperwork, return things at random store all over town...and get a pedicure. Ok, obviously the last item on my to do list isn't really a need, but it sure would make a nice reward wouldn't it?

Finish the stuff on my list, get a bunch of shiny gold stars, get my toes done. Sounds like a plan!
