If you're a regular reader, you know Harry Potter has been on the brain in our house lately after Katie's Harry Potter birthday party. Katie's currently reading book 7, so it will be interesting to see what book series she gets involved with next.
Anyway, when I saw these Harry Potter themed Valentine's on Pinterest a couple weeks ago, they grabbed my attention. I was a little worried that a lot of second graders might not be very familiar with many of the characters since only a handful of my daughters classmates have read the books. Plus, many of the movies are a bit scary for young kids, so they might not recognize the movie characters anyway. (We've still only let Katie see the first two movies.) I figured that Harry Potter and Hermione would be pretty recognizable though, and thought these would be fun Valentine's that match Katie's interest right now.
And is is actually what the sofa looked liked as Katie was signing her Valentine's...this wasn't a posed picture. She had to stop reading book 7 to do her Valentine's and there's book 4 where I left it after reading while feeding the baby...yeah, we've got Harry Potter coming out of our ears.
So I cooked up two of my own version using images I found online and the Lumos and Harry P fonts.
Katie is giving the Harry Valentines to the boys.
And the Hermione Valentines to the girls.
I printed them out on some white cardstock and then cut them with my quilting ruler and rotary cutter (although scissors would work just fine.)
And I've got free downloadable Harry Potter Valentines (click here) for you! If you'd like the images to resize for yourself, here they are. (But if you want them already formatted and ready to print, click on the PDF above.)
After helping Katie get her Valentines designed and printed, it was time to start on Seth's. We used an old standby...the Heartbreaker Valentine's from Dana of MADE. (We made these when Katie was in kindergarten.) They just seem like the perfect boy-kindergarten Valentines. Seth loved getting to help cut them...and it was nice to use someone else's design for once.
And Anson definitely approves.
What Valentine's are you using this year?
