Katie has started reading the Harry Potter Books.
Actually, she's falling in love with the Harry Potter books. She's devouring them. Note that this picture was just taken a little over a week ago while she was reading Book 2 and she's now on Book 4. Granted we've read some chapters to her for bedtime stories, but she's read a lot of it on her own. It's been fun to have her enjoying books that her dad and I enjoy so much...although we feel a little conflicted about how far we should let her read into the series. We were going to have her stop after book three...and then she brought home book four from the school librarian.
Hmmmm...she might be able to talk us into more. Although then Eric and I were talking about some of the scenes in Goblet of Fire (Harry Potter 4). Eeeek...is our little girl ready for this?!?
Anyway, we thought a Harry Potter shirt would be fun. The HP symbol from Harry Potter is perfect for freezer paper stencilling. It's a bold, simple design that's pretty easy to cut out.
Instead of using our typical acrylic craft paint, we used metallic silver fabric paint. She started out with the painting, but I ended up doing most of it. I'm not sure if it's because my particular bottle of silver is a little old, or if this is just how metallic paints are, but it was just different to spread...not bad, but different. For my full tutorial on freezer paper stencilling see here.
