A friend of mine recently asked me for design advice in her formal living room- a room that according to her, they never use and she hates. This was the perfect excuse for me to run home and obsess over how to spruce it up. I think that night I even dreamed about her room.
At the moment she has one amazing deep purple accent wall and 3 walls that are a pale gray (which read slightly lilac to me). Furniture is a mish mash of hand-me downs that she's been trying to make work together- brown couches and a fabulous teal chair. It's currently accessorized with lots of things that make the room read very "cool" (silver, white, and black). The goal is not to do a total overhaul, but rather to just find a way to enhance the existing paint colors and furniture.
Her favorite room of the house is her adjacent dining room- a very warm room in browns and greens. So my plan for her is to warm up the living room by bringing in some of those same colors as well as some gold.
I'm in love with some of the artwork that I found- and I think if she can find the right things to put on the walls it will all come together regardless of what kind of fabrics she finds for throw pillows and curtains.
Maybe someday she'll let me sneak in some before and after pictures...but for now I just need to get her on board with my color scheme.
