I mean really? Didn't I just finish that? And now I have to do it again.
Sometimes I open up one of my closets (ones that I have so proudly cleaned out, organized and displayed for all of you on these pages), and my shoulders slump. I guess my organized approach wasn't quite good enough, because it sure looks like it could use another overhaul.
For some reason the other day as I was attempting (again) to straighten up the entryway and find the bottom of the laundry baskets, my mind was wandering back to high school chemistry class.

Yes, I am a nerd, and that statement definitively proves it. Anyway, as a nerd, high school chemistry class is a place where I have very fond memories. Most of them involve inside jokes with a close group of friends, but apparently some of them also involve actual chemistry because I found myself thinking about Entropy. Huh?
For simplicity purposes, let's just call Entropy a measure of Disorder, and not even attempt to have a discussion about Thermodynamics here.
So yeah, Entropy. Chemistry. Thermodynamics? Stay with me.
Did you know that in the universe everything is basically driven to move towards a state of greater disorder?
The specific memory that I was having of chemistry class involved a drawing on the board of an abandon house becoming run down- weeds overtaking the yard, shingles falling off the roof etc. Due to the natural flow of energy within the universe, if left to its own devices, disorder takes over . It takes effort to stop this process. You must work to change the direction of energy flow. Basically the house won't clean itself, people.
But more than that, buying an expensive custom closet organizer won't keep your closet clean. Creating a color coordinated filing system won't prevent your paperwork from getting out of control. It's the work that makes the difference. We have to work to keep our systems working, and sometimes we have to do that work day after day after day.
And also, we're fighting nature here. It's not my fault that my house keeps getting messy, it's the way that the universe wants it.
